Sarah Boggan (2004, JLS) won first place from the Arizona Press Club for sustained neighborhood reporting for any publication for 2006. That was for my coverage of Queen Creek, having been on the beat for only six months.

Tom Boggan (2004, Photo) won first and third place from the Arizona Associated Press Managing Editors Association in 2006 for general news photography. Tom won first place for his Daily News-Sun photo "Ms. Senior Arizona" and third place for a Daily News-Sun photo entitled "Funeral." Tom started at the East Valley Tribune in April.

TOM BOGGAN (2004) has been hired by the East Valley Tribune in Mesa, AZ.

BRIAN DRAKE (2006) has accepted a staff position at The Appeal-Democrat in Marysville, CA after a very successful inrternship at the Bakersfield Californian.

JOSH NASH (current student) has been meandering around Nepal for four months working on photos stories and will relturn to NAU this summer and working the Republic internship in the fall.

ERIKA SCHULTZ' (2005) HAS BEEN HIRED BY THE SEATTLE TIMES AS A THREE-YEAR RESIDENT PHOTOGRAPHER. SHE WANTED US TO CLARIFY HER POSITION. "IT IS SOMETHING BETWEEN AN INTERN AND STAFF POSITION," SHE SAYS. IT IS A FULL TIME POSITION THAT IS GUARANTEED FOR THREE YEARS, BUT SHE IS NOT A REGULAR STAFFER.

ANA PIMSLER (2004) IS WORKING AT THE POTOMAC NEWS AND JOINED KIRK MASTIN (2004) AND ERIKA SCHULTZ AT THE EDDIE ADAMS WORKSHOP OCTOBER 6-9. THESE FORMER STUDENTS WERE CHOSEN ON TEH BASIS OF THEIR PORTFOLIOS. ERIKA IS RETURNING AS A STAFFER AFTER BEING CHOSEN AS A PARTICIPANT IN 2005.

JEFF MURRAY (2006), WHO WAS A FINALIST WITH BRIAN FOR THAT INTERNSHIP, IS DOING WORK FOR THE TRI-VALLEY HERALD.

MICHELLE LEWIS (2006) IS INTERNING WITH THE ARIZONA REPUBLICTHIS FALL

JERRY FOREMAN (2003) AND JILL TORRANCE (2002) ARE TEACHING PHOTO COURSES AT NAU THIS FALL.

JILL CONTINUES HER WORK AT THE ARIZONA DAILY SUN AND JERRY IS DOING A LOT OF FREELANCE WORK AND OWNS HIS OWN RACE PHOTOGRAPHY BUSINESS, MYRACEPICS.COM .

OTHER GRADS:

JAKE BACON IS THE PHOTO EDITOR OF THE ARIZONA DAILY SUN, GREG BRYAN IS CURRENTLY A PHOTOJOURNALIST FOR THE ARIZONA DAILY STAR IN TUCSON. GARY O'BRIEN CONTINUES HIS PHOTO WORK AT THE CHARLOTTE OBSERVER, WHERE IS ALSO HEADING UP MULTI-MEDIA PRODUCTION FOR THAT NEWSPAPER.

JEFF TOPPING IS DOING FREELANCE WORK IN PHOENIX FOR RUETERS AND THE NEW YORK TIMES, AMONG OTHER CLIENTS.

RICK D'ELIA (1989) WILL HAVE HIS DOCUMENTARY WORK ON DISPLAY AT ASU NOV.8. THE EXHIBIT OF HIS UGANDA PHOTOS WAS FEATURED AT NAU LAST YEAR AND WE HOPE TO SEE IT SHOWN AGAIN THIS YEAR AT NAU.

2006 SPRING CELEBRATIONS

Tom Boggan (BS Photojournalism 2004) and Sarah Bell (BS Journalism, BS
Public Relations 2004)

were married during a ceremony on Feb. 4, 2006
in Phoenix. The cermony was at the couple's church and the reception
was held at the Tempe Mission Palms.
In attendance were several NAU grads including Jerry Foreman, who was
the best man, Leslie Chambers who was a bridesmaid, Erika Schultz,
Becky Pallack, Chris Hinkle and Jason Swift. Several NAU professors
also attended including Peter Schwepker, Mary Tolan and former
Lumberjack advisor Rob Breeding. Taking a break from their work at
Phoenix-area newspapers, Tom and Sarah honeymooned in Cabo San Lucas.
"Having friends and family from every part of our life be with us on
the big day was so special.

Sarah and Tom say "thanks to all!"
