Welcome

This is a page lisitng of my other passion, music.

I find music and photography have a lot in common and, in fact, I often generate music ideas when I am waiting for the light to be just right in a photograph. And I enjoy putting my music together with my photographs as you will find in two of the following musical selctions.

Writing songs is a creative event, but it is also a commercial process. I am hoping to sell some of my work to the music industry. I am NOT a singer, thus the music you hear has a piano lead guiding the lyrics. The piano lead is not designed to be a full arrangement, but simply hits notes word by word to guide a potential interested singer or group. The orchestration is what I hear in my head and is transformed via a keyboard that has a number of voices and instruments.

I have listed the song below with links to an automated word-music combination in a slide show that is cross platform and is playable on any computer with a browser.

Hope you enjoy these selections:

Children's Eyes

I love children. They teach us so much. Children's Eyes is not a children's song, but an adult song promoting the idea that we have a lot to learn from our childlren. I feel that the world would be a better place if we tried to regain a child's viewpoint and see things the way they see things. This song is dedicated to my 11 grandchildren.

This Old Town

This song was supposed to be about a journey back to places where I grew up and the disappointment of seeing my old home torn down and even my old, vintage high school, which was replaced by apartments. That journey is the inspiration for this song. But it then goes one step further and incorporates a love angle which may have been part of that old town and often is part of our sentimental journies. Well, as the song developed it became more "country" in mood and style and the only thing missing is a pickup truck.

The Missing Piece

The Missing Piece is about quality areas we are starting to miss in our world. And since music brings healing, I am using music as a vehicle to remind us of those beautiful and meaningful things we are starting to see fade from our daily lives.

Trails

This song had words but is in the process of a lyrical facelift. However, it is the theme song in the Nature Slideshow at

In case you get confused, the upcoming song, Traveler USED To be the theme for the slideshow.

Traveler

I have lost some good friends when they passed away in their prime. It seems that the stronger the personality, the more one wonders if they are able to see the lives of the people they left behind. And how does this mystery work? Do they get to visit the places they called home? I beleive in an after life and I do beleive in heaven. I don't have a clue how God works that out, but I do beleive He does. Anyway, this songs asks some of those qeustions using the life of one friend's traveling adventures as a narrration for the piece.

Traveler B

Same lyrics as Traveler but with a totally different sound and orchestration.

Winter

Summer is by far my favorite season. I love fall and I do a lot of photography in fall and enjoy the colors and smells of autumn. Then there is winter. Winter is NOT my favorite season by any means. I wrote music for another prupose but the mood of Winter matches my winter mood. This has photos of winter with the music.

The Legend

A big thanks to a friend who used the phrase Legend to describe a former boyfriend. It seemed like a stark description for a former relationship, but it did give a jump-start for a song idea.

Moonrise

I love the desert at night. Moonrise on the desert lets you see the moon rising from the horizon, showing off a golden glow and casting soft, blue light on the desert later in the evening. It is a magical time.

Winds Before the Sunset

A song inspired by a late afternoon storm in late autumn bringing rain, clouds and winter.
